After the 2016 election, a group of motivated women began organizing. Our mission, experience, and sphere of influence in the "resistance" grew from protesting, postcard writing, and phone calls, to voter registration, and the formation of The Funky East Dallas Democrats, aka The FEDDs. We use our successful PUMP strategy to build community, precinct by precinct. The “PUMP” or Precinct United Mobilization Plan is a magical combination of:

fun + relational organizing + community + deep canvassing = 💙 ✌️

We build teams of volunteer organizers, precinct by precinct. Newbies come for the fun activities, and stay engaged because they form real friendships and improve their outlook by DOING SOMETHING. By focusing on this community building, we’ve made the organization, and our important work, sustainable. And, we just keep growing! The FEDDs now have over 5k volunteers across North Texas!!

We train and support volunteer organizers and Dem Precinct Chairs to increase voter turnout in each precinct. The FEDDs have successfully increased voter turnout by 3-8% per precinct, EACH election cycle since our formation!!

We’re a flat, 100% volunteer group. We don’t have dues or meeting minutes, and we don’t endorse candidates in primaries or municipals. We want EVERYONE to feel welcome to organize with the FEDDs and run for office. (If you are able, please sponsor our work here!)

In 2018, we helped flip a Red seat to get Colin Allred elected to Congress. Check out our New York Times & CBS coverage (video). NOW, we’re working to flip the Senate with our friend and Congressperson Colin Allred (read: Fire Ted Cruz); flip more seats with Liz Ginsberg, Averie Bishop, Sam Eppler; and make our country proud by electing the 1st openly LGBTQ congressperson from THE SOUTH with our homie Julie Johnson.

Voter Registration: From attending large events with voter reg partner orgs, to inside our own precincts, we’re registering voters every day. If you aren’t a certified volunteer deputy registrar (VDR) yet, we’ll help you get it sorted.

Block Walking: We knock on left-leaning doors to meet our voters, get them on our organizing team, and keep them educated about candidates & voting. If you like to walk and are comfortable meeting new people, solo or w/ a friend, we need you!

‘Lit Sticking’: The FEDDs’ most popular Get Out the Vote activity is the lit stick - an election reminder with all the relevant info on one big sticky note we stick on the doors of voters. We give you a list of addresses and you cover a lot of ground sticking literature on doors. “No Knocking, Just Sticking” - and getting your steps in! In 2020, over 200K pieces of literature were stuck on doors across Dallas County, with even more planned for 2024! 💪

Postcard Parties: Make a difference while having fun w/ friends old & new! We write postcards to invite new members, to reach new voters, and to hold elected officials accountable. From thanking them for a hard fought win, to issue campaigns. We supply everything. Just come write a short scripted message. Join us at our next postcard party!

And, so much MORE! We take shifts volunteering at the Dallas Dems HQ, volunteer for Dem candidates, support issue-based orgs and local emergency & mutual aid efforts, we hold our elected officials accountable, and hold Poll Parties - to make voting fun! Join us!
