PLAN YOUR VOTE 🗳️

ONE: Check your voter registration status and confirm your precinct number at DallasCountyVotes.org to know which districts you will vote in. There have been voter challenges and purges. And, as a result of the TX GOP’s mid-decade state redistricting, precinct boundaries have changed.

  • If your Status says “Suspense”, call Dallas County Votes at 469-627-8683.

  • If your Status says “Active”, you are all set. Move forward with planning your vote.

TWO: Research & Prepare Materials 🗒️

  • Have you received your new voter registration certificate/card in the mail? This time it’s orange. Sign it and bundle it with the rest of your voting materials. You don’t have to have it to vote, but it makes it easier and has your districts on it, which helps you double check your ballot when you’ve completed voting.

  • Click “My Districts” to see which districts you vote in for this Primary Election.

  • Print YOUR sample ballot from DallasCountyVotes.org to take with you to make voting easy.

    • Once you enter your name & birthdate on this voter lookup screen, select “Democratic” on the top right of the page.

    • Once you do that, click “View Sample Ballot” to see your personal ballot, with your districts.

    • The Republican primary has a different ballot and is administered separately.

  • Research our candidates and the Propositions. ➡️

    • The 13 Propositions listed on the ballot do not create new laws; they act as a survey to tell the Democratic party if these are our priorities.

  • Mark your vote choices on your sample ballot. You can bring printed guides into the ballot booth, but may not take out your phone.

  • Plan to vote for Democrats all the way down to the bottom of the ballot, including those without challengers and the super important judges and Propositions. Every Dem candidate and Propositions deserves your vote of confidence in this era.

  • Plan to bring proper photo identification.

THREE: Book it! 🗓️

  • Set an appointment on your calendar for when you will vote.

    • Invite friends and fam to join you. Going together makes it more fun!

Expect considerable delays & confusion. Make sure everyone you know VOTES EARLY. During early voting, we can vote at any voting location countywide, with proper identification. 🚨🚨

🚨 Voting centers for election day have finally been posted; click here then click “Election Day Democratic Party”  🚨

🚨 Whether you VOTE Early or on Election Day:

  • Expect this Primary Voting to look different, from a General Election, but also in comparison to previous Primaries. In the weeks leading up to the election, the local GOP created new stumbling blocks for voters - but they also don’t have enough workers for their half of the election. So read up on changes and notes below, and plan to take it slow this time. Let’s be calm, observant, and arrive ready.

  • ALL REGISTERED VOTERS ARE ELIGIBLE TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARY ELECTION. You do NOT have to apply for any special status or be a precinct chair. If you are registered to vote, it is your right to have your day.

  • Use the Dallas Elections site to know your polling location in advance.

  • Bring proper photo identification, such as a driver’s license. 🪪

  • You can take a sample ballot, or any non-electronic voting list/notes into the voting booth. (No phone allowed in your hand.) 📵

  • It is not possible to vote split ticket; single party voting only in primary elections.

  • There will be separate lines for Democrats & Republicans voting in shared voting centers because we have completely different ballots. Some precincts will have separate R & D voting locations.

  • You cannot display political/Democratic literature or merchandise (incl t-shirts, flyers, or mailers) within the voting center + up to 100 feet from the entrance of the poll. 📐🙄

  • Please vote in every race on the ballot, even for uncontested Democrats. It’s important to vote to the bottom of the ballot. The lower the position, the close they are to touching your everyday life, like family courts and justices of the peace. 🏘️

  • Don't rush. Before you put your paper ballot into the reader, check that it printed all your correct votes. If you see any issues, ask to speak to a Democratic election judge.

  • Here’s a helpful video guide made by our friends at Texas Blue Media that shares a lot of voting details, especially about more accessible options, like curb and VBM (vote by mail). English language guide. Spanish language guide.

  • There is likely to be a shortage of “vote from the car” equipment on Election Day.

    • Please make sure anyone you know who requires a more accessible vote makes their plan to vote early or by mail.

  • If you Vote By Mail, the new US Postal Service rule means you MUST mail it EARLY. The U.S. Postal Service changed the rules – the postmark is now stamped when your mail is PROCESSED, NOT when it is dropped in the mail. Secure your vote by:

    • It is essential that:

      • UNDER THE FLAP of the carrier envelope you include the required ID & contact information.

      • OVER THE FLAP of the carrier envelope voters MUST sign their name

      • Up to 40% of mail votes are thrown out due to not

    • Mail your ballot 7-14 days before the deadline; extra tips:

      1. Request a manual postmark on your ballot at your post office.

      2. If you are mailing close to the deadline, use certified mail.

      3. You can also take the envelope in person to Dallas County Votes during early voting and on Election Day until 7pm.

    • If you have more Vote By Mail questions, we recommend the League of Women Voters’ guide.

  • If during the election, contacting Dallas Dems who a voter protection team to assist.
